02 an hour This position provides support to children ages 0-5 and their families who are at risk of or have been identified as having a special need or mental health issue.
This position provides support to teaching staff regarding the overall classroom environment and acts as a liaison to the public school districts regarding children's Individual Education Plans (IEP).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Conducts individual mental health assessments for children through observation and other screening tools with parental consent Provides teaching staff and parents with strategies for supporting children with challenging behavior and other social, emotional, and mental health concerns Provide supports for effective classroom management and positive learning environments Attend IEP meetings and assist with the implementation and oversight of the plan Demonstrate supportive teacher practices and strategies for supporting children with challenging behaviors and other social, emotional, and mental health concerns Secure mental health consultation services on a schedule of sufficient and consistent frequency to ensure a mental health consultant is available to partner with staff and families in a timely and effective manner Obtain parental consent for mental health consultation services Build community partnerships to facilitate access to additional mental health resources and services, as needed.
Assist the program to implement strategies to identify and support children with mental health and social and emotional concerns Work to meet children's mental health and social and emotional needs through strategies that include observation and consultation Address prevalent child mental health concerns, including internalizing problems such as appearing withdrawn and externalizing problems such as challenging behaviors Help parents and staff to understand mental health and access mental health interventions, if needed EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS A master's degree in psychology, social work or other related field is required A state license in Michigan for social work or psychology is required SCHEDULE Full-time school year, limited hours in the summer Job Type:
