You will serve as a consultant and project manager to identify and prioritize opportunities, develop project plans, and oversee the implementation of project plans. Apply cost engineering and cost management principles, proven methodologies, and technology in support of the Total Cost Management Process.
Assess supplier capabilities and develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor supplier cost performance.
Contribute to the delivery of standard, consistent, and robust cost management frameworks and procedures.
Coordinate and/or develop project annual spend projections, cost reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Develop a should-be cost and cost breakdown structure for new and legacy products, projects, assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components in support of the Commodity/Category Teams.
Lead supplier resources and cross-functional project teams.
Monitor costs, collect and compile progress and cost data, and develop cost control worksheets and reports for review by the Delivery and Management Teams.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
Perform global value stream analysis.
Provide interface to other functions and teams to improve processes, resolve conflicting priorities, and ensure adherence to best practices.
Provide solutions to business and program planning, cost estimating, economic and financial analysis, cost engineering, program and project management, planning and scheduling, cost and schedule performance management. and change control.
Question the validity of current requirements in order to reduce non-value add activities, material, and/or design.
Review and audit supplier cost control procedures and practices.
Sell ideas and strategies internally and externally across multiple levels of the organization.

A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Supply Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience. An MBA and/or professional certification is preferred (CPM, CPSM, etc.).
Seven years of industrial/manufacturing experience to understand manufacturing processes and key cost drivers.
Four years of experience with cost management tools.
Three to five years of hands-on experience with components, assemblies, sub-assemblies, etc.
Demonstrated successful project management and cross-functional leadership experience.
A proven understanding of cost drivers and the allocation of the cost drivers.
A strong ability to generate and implement ideas and designs that reduce component cost. You'll also need to be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, resolve problems, and meet deadlines.
Highly developed negotiation skills.
A proven ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, critical thinking, and oral and written communication skills.
The ability to understand and support Herman Miller's business, operational, and financial strategies. You'll also need well-developed cost analysis skills.
A demonstrated ability to effectively use the office automation, communication, software, and tools currently used in the Herman Miller office environment.
The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.
